Sudoku!

Yay! I just solved my 1st Sudoku puzzle.
What's that, you say?
Sudoku is a cool logic puzzle that's been driving Britain into a frenzy.
The rules are simple: You're given a 9x9 grid made up of 3x3 subgrids. Some of the cells in this grid are already filled up with digits (only from 1 to 9). The objective of the game is to fill in the empty cells with digits (again, only from 1 to 9) in such a way that each row, column and 3x3 square contains all 9 digits. Every puzzle has a unique solution.
The game mechanics can be mastered fairly easily but puzzles can range from fairly simple to tear-inducingly complex.
Therein lies it's appeal. There's something for everyone, from absolute beginners like me to seasoned MENSA puzzle-solvers.
Puzzles are published daily in many British newspapers but for those of us who live elswhere, no fear, there's an online playable version. Here it is: Web Sudoku. It's a great way to practice the game as it's got a built-in help system- it identifies any mistakes you've made- like filling in the same number twice on the same row/column/square. It's also got 3 difficulty levels: Easy, Medium and Hard. I found this online playable version of Sudoku from: jay is: Web Sudoku. Jay's blog is the best place to look if you want to find cool webgames. He never fails to link to something new and interesting every week.
Anyway, try out Web Sudoku but don't blame me if you get totally addicted to it. Have fun! ;-)

Deeee.licio.us!

Del.icio.us is probably one of the best tools ever designed for the web.
What's del.icio.us? It's a social bookmarks manager. It lets you post sites to a personal bookmarks collection that you can access anywhere! You can assign tags to all the sites you post, which lets you organise your bookmarks around these tags. For example, right now, I've got 320 bookmarks with the tag "games," and 204 with the tag "comics." You can assign as many tags as you want to a bookmark. So if you find a blog about comics and games, you can assign both tags to that bookmark.
The tags feature together with a built-in search function makes it an extremely useful tool for organising a bookmarks collection, especially if you have a huge one like mine (914 sites at last count and growing daily).
Since del.icio.us is a social tool, anyone can view anyone else's bookmarks as long as they know their username on del.icio.us. Here's mine: del.icio.us/hazylium
Take a look around. If you feel confused, go to the about page. It'll tell you all the basics and get you up to speed. Alternatively, here's a great beginner's guide.
The most interesting feature of del.icio.us, to me, is it's popular page. This page keeps track of, you guessed it, the most popular pages bookmarked on del.icio.us. It's really interesting to see what kind of pages come up. It's kind of like a radar for tracking what's new and hip on the web.
I'll post more info about this really cool site later. For now, I'll point you towards an excellent blog post about del.icio.us tools that's regularly updated with new info: Absolutely Del.icio.us - Complete Tool Collection- I got the link for the beginner's guide from there too.

Introduction

Hi! My name's Hazyl and this is my blog you're reading! I'm a Maldivian living in Singapore- if you want to know more read my profile.
Now, this blog exists because I love surfing the web and finding out new and cool things. New and cool things mostly, though not always, pertaining to the following: games, music, movies, books, comics, science, technology, art, blogs, podcasting and vlogs or video logs.
I'm going to use this blog to highlight and comment on some of the cool stuff I find on the web. Kind of like a fisherman showing off his latest catch. But not really. :p
In addition to that, I'm going to post reviews of media I consume. What kind of media? Games, music, movies, television programmes, podcasts and vlogs.
So between the sites I link to and comment on, and my opinionated reviews, I want to offer something unique here on this little blog. Somewhere down the line I'll start posting little pieces of microfiction (or nanofiction? picofiction, even?), once I get my creative juices flowing. Maybe even a podcast. But that's all in the future. For now, this is my blog. Enjoy!
